Toad in the Hull!
Update: following the recent auction of the
Larkin Toads we can announce that the Toad in the Hull
will be staying at the History Centre.

Introducing the History Centre's very own Toad! Toad in the Hull
was designed by Janis Goodman with artwork being done by Sarah
Fisher. The toad is sponsored by Kier Building Maintenance
Hull.
The design is based on a series of vignettes in which
conversations take place, literally and metaphorically about Larkin
and the toad. Brightly coloured cartoon-like illustrations,
incorporating Hull landmarks such as the Deep, Queens Gardens
and the Humber Bridge, cover the surface of the toad in an organic
fashion.

Larkin with Toads was a city wide mass participation public art
event that populated Hull with enormous decorated toads for 10
weeks during summer 2010. Further information on the event can
be found on the Larkin25 website
