2014 marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
The Hull History Centre holds a significant amount of material
relating to the events of 1914-18. The relevance of this material,
in many cases, extends beyond the local area and offers an insight
into not only the lived experiences of individuals but also
political developments taking place on a global scale.
The collections have been grouped under the following broad
headings; papers of families and individuals; papers of
organisations; collections including material relating to
conscientious objection; a look at literature and
poetry relating to the First World War details of other
resources and some useful links.

The History Centre is a partner in the
World War Centenary, a global programme of commemorative events
and online resources led by the Imperial War Museum. The IWM has
also produced an online learning resource for teachers relating to
recruitment and conscription.
