The History Centre houses a number of
important collections relating to Amy Johnson including:
Amy Johnson’s Personal
Library
Initially part of the Johnson Bequest to
Kingston High School in 1941 the collection of 250 books includes
childhood reading, and copies of works presented to her by their
authors. The collection was transferred to the Local Studies
Library in December 1987 when the school library closed.
Amy Johnson letters to Hans
Arregger
Series of 286 letters (Ref L
DIAJ) written by Amy to her partner Hans written between
1922-1928. It includes Amy beginning flying lessons and a small
number of letters to Amy from her father. The catalogue for

Souvenir
Booklet from a Luncheon in Honour of Miss Amy Johnson, 1936
(Ref C DMX/83). It includes an account and
photographs of the flight to Australia, a guest list and details of
the meal.

Hull Museums hold a number of items relating to Amy Johnson including her
flying jacket, photographs of her wedding to Jim Mollison on 29
July 1932 and 'The Amy Johnson Cup for Courage' (Guildhall).

In 1959, Amy Johnson's trophies and souvenirs were given by her
family to the Bridlington Corporation, and are now permanently on
display at Sewerby Hall (the house Amy had opened in 1936).
