Virtual Tour - search room

The Search Room provides an area for quiet study and for those using original archives and other local studies material (some of which is kept in the strongrooms).

There are table spaces for large documents and maps, open access PCs for consulting online catalogues, databases and other resources, and power and network points for users' laptops.

To provide security for unique and fragile documents, users are required to leave bags and coats in a locker (the lockers are situated in the arcade) and take in only pencils, paper and/or laptop.

The temperature in the search room is regulated to ensure that the documents brought down do not suffer damage from the change in temperature. It can feel chilly because of this, so bring a jumper!
