On the History Centre staff we have some talented cooks and equally talented food critics. There is rarely a day when the staffroom is empty of biscuits and cakes. In our geekiness we decided that perhaps we could try out some of the wonderful recipes we have in our collection which includes records from estate house kitchens and Hull housewives. One staff member a month recreates one of these historical recipes and brings it in to be critiqued by the rest of us. Why not have a go yourself? Every month we’ll upload the original recipe and a transcript along with some photos and our comments. Once you’ve had a go, email your own photos and comments to hullhistorycentre@hullcc.gov.uk and put Cookery Club in the subject box.
